Background

The Conserve to Enhance (C2E) program was developed by the University of Arizona Water Resources Research Center (WRRC).  C2E is a unique program that motivates consumers to use water more efficiently by linking water conservation efforts with environmental enhancements in their community and region.  Since drought is becoming a major issue in the Southwest, there is a need to educate and motivate the public about water conservation.  C2E provides a new, unique motivation for water conservation and raises awareness about water resources-related to environmental benefit.

Invention

The Conserve to Enhance (C2E) Water Use Dashboard is a tool designed to support the implementation of the C2E program in communities throughout the Colorado River Basin.  The dashboard provides to its user a one-stop shop for learning and implementing water conservation practices.  It allows the user to track their own use while actively engaging them in learning about water resources.  Within the dashboard the user has access to an abundance of information, techniques, and resources allowing each user to conserve water and save money in a personally designed way.  The dashboard also allows participants the option to give back to their communities by donating their savings to an enhancement project of their choice.

Applications

With drought being a major issue in the Southwest, the C2E Dashboard could be implemented in many different states/cities within this region.  Although the main application for the dashboard would be in domestic home use available through water utility companies, it could also be expanded to include community businesses and corporations as well.

Advantages

C2E Dashboard addresses the issue of water conservation by actively engaging and guiding the user through the process.  C2E is an active program that educates and motivates the public to use less water by enticing them to donate to local community enhancements of their choice.  This program is unique because it actively addresses the current issues of water use by using a fun and educational dashboard to encourage users to save waters.
