Title: Low Cost and Convenient Security System Using WIFI Signal

Invention: The invention is a security system using WIFI signals through using multiple WIFI routers and one or multiple WIFI receivers. The security mode outputs a quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) modulated signal to WIFI receivers mounted at different locations. When there is movement in the area, the signal shows a large variation. If identified as a threat, an alarm will sound and the owner will be notified.

Background: In 2013, the average cost of a new home security system ranged from $600 to $1200 with monthly monitoring plans averaging around $30. With over 2,000,000 burglaries occurring in 2012, each with an average of $2,120 taken, there is a need for reliable and cost-effective security systems for consumer peace of mind.

Applications:

  • Home security
  • Offices/business security

Advantages:

  • Reduces cost to under $100
