Entanglement Assisted LPI and Covert Communications with SLM-based Beam Steering over Turbulent Optical Channels

Case ID:
UA26-049
Invention:

This invention enables high-speed covert optical communication using entanglement-assisted transmission and spatial light modulators (SLM) for beam steering. This technology achieves better performance over turbulence than classical systems without requiring phase conjugation.

Background:
Covert optical communication technologies are becoming more heavily researched because of the growing need for secure and undetectable information transfer. Traditional communication systems emit detectable signals that may reveal the location of a transmitter. Optical methods of communication look to solve this problem by enabling transmission that blends into environmental noise. Current optical solutions, like standard free-space optical links, have interception risks and experience a lot of atmospheric distortion. Recent advancements in quantum optics have allowed researchers to explore other communication methods that enhance stealth, precision, and resilience against eavesdropping.

Applications:

  • Secure military communications
  • Satellite-based information transfer
  • Private civilian networks
  • Deep-space data links

Advantages:

  • Low cost
  • Low detectability
  • Resistance to interception
