Portable, Rapid Tests for Shrimp Diseases for use in Novel Testing System

Case ID:
UA17-258
Invention:

This invention is a portable device designed for shrimp disease detection.

Background:
Diseases that affect the shrimp farming industry can cause a magnitude of problems. Current methods of disease prevention involve taking samples from a pond, which are then typically transported to a lab out of the country for testing. This standard suffers from a lack of portability and is often complex in design. The invention prevented here allows for immediate results, which translates into immediate decisions, thus removing the need to wait long periods for results.

Applications:

  • Aquaculture testing

Advantages:

  • Portability
  • Rapid response time
  • Simplicity
