Pseudo Phase Conjugate Image Transfer Device for Head Worn Display

Researchers at the University of Arizona have applied a novel pseudo-phase conjugate technique to the design of a ghost-free and nearly aberration-free head up display. The Pseudo-phase conjugate Head-up Display (PHD) optical engine enables image transfer in an ultra-thin form factor with transparent devices which can be buried inside prescription glasses and sunglasses.


In conventional HUDs, the optical medium through which the image information propagates is limited to free-space or image guide optics, employing total internal reflection. This requires relatively bulky displays that are difficult to be transferred to head-worn versions.
